The Alexandru Davila Theatre has its own artistic team – including its own orchestra, actors, vocalists, ballet dancers, puppet-makers and puppeteers – that can stage many different types of performances. The 2019 theatre year will feature seven new performances, which are part of the three programmes presented below.
The dramatic programme is intended exclusively for dramatic performances that will satisfy the whole spectrum of the genre, with plays from Romanian, universal, classical and contemporary dramaturgy, as well as four other projects: titan, universalis drama, comedy, debut.
The review programme is dedicated to classical revue, burlesque, dance and music, as well as performances on the art of the revue and musical theatre, and includes three projects.
Aschiuta, the children’s programme features shows designed for young and very young audiences. The projects will be prioritised in four action areas: the puppet art show, the actors’ stories show, the teenage show and the area that corresponds to the Romanian literature curriculum in schools and consists of three projects: dolls, puppets, masks, childhood stories and curriculum.

In the autumn, the International Studio Theatre and New Forms Festival will take place on 23 November 2019, organised by the Alexandru Davila Theatre in Piteşti. It represents a manifestation of endless desire and motivation for culture and knowledge. The international character of the festival promotes diversity, positioning our theatre and the audience in an intercultural dialogue.
The festival is a great tradition. It has become a meeting place and forum for exchanging experiences between people interested in culture and young directors. It offers them a great opportunity to intensify the cultural dialogue and analysis of the theatrical phenomenon. In this respect, the Alexandru Davila Theatre, in cooperation with the ETC, wishes to further develop contemporary, classical and new forms of theatre, inviting the public, either as a participant or as people interested in culture, to join in what we want to be a free and professional cultural phenomenon.
The Alexandru Davila Theatre combines tradition with new forms of theatrical expression. Social themes, cultural diversity and adaptation to the new European society are carefully studied and expressed via artistic means. We follow both the content and the form in which we address the public using the universal language of the theatre without linguistic boundaries of any kind.
