“Alexandru Davila” Theatre is a public institution belonging to the town of Pitesti, Romania, whose cultural manifestation has been taking place since the 19th century and in 1848 a theatre team was established in this geographical area. For a century from the first activities, the theatre has been through frequent moves and changes, but on 1 February 1949 it became a professional state theatre.

Beginning with 2018 “Alexandru Davila” Theatre includes a variety of productions (drama, music and for children) that increase the level of public access to art, supports the Romanian and international cultural valences, being a complete theatre team, without sections.

The 70-year-old “Alexandru Davila” Theatre aims at expanding cultural, artistic, national and international values, developing and increasing public access to these values. With 70 years of experience, the theatre has a wide range of shows, productions, national and international awards, public interest projects, cooperation with various international festivals, important arts conferences, round tables with artists and managers, designed to attract and include a wider audience, projects with young artists and young audiences, literary and reflection publications for the development of new strategies. “Alexandru Davila” Theatre is a public institution of culture that is under the authority of Arges County Council.
